HERstory

Tracie Collins, actress, writer, and executive producer, is an in-demand Renaissance woman who personifies perseverance, while proving that dreams do come true. Born and raised just outside of San Francisco, California, Tracie began attending Actor’s Conservatory Theatre (ACT) at the tender age of nine. Throughout her formative years she took vocal lessons and learned the art of stagecraft. As time went on, her love of the arts and creative talents lead her to land significant roles in theatre; portraying characters such as “Lorelle” in the Broadway musical Dream Girls and “Pam” in Misery Loves Company. The epitome of her acting talents can be seen in movies like, “The Postman” ;Jamie Walker Production, featured in film festivals in 2010, “Powdered Cage' . A featured film which is in development and Tracie Collins is the Executive Producer and much more.

 

February 2010, Tracie presented Kiss the Curves, the first ever Plus-Size Fashion Gala in the Bay Area that will showcase some of the top plus-size designers in the industry. As the Creator/ Executive Producer of the event, Tracie’s mission was to bring positive awareness to the community and show mainstream outlets that fashion is not limited because of your dress size. It is defined, embraced and recognized. Destined to open additional door, Kiss the Curves was created out of necessity; so that women can identify with someone who looks like them and shop from retailers who make fashion forward clothes specifically with the plus-size woman in mind. Kiss the Curves did so well that it was covered by the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, and many other popular media outlets with standing room only before showtime!

 

Along with working on the extensive details for Kiss the Curves, continuing with her film production career as she strives to work with and place more African American women behind the screens of major film productions in the areas of writing, directing, casting and producing. Tracie believes in order for African American women to be see more On camera we need to be making the decisions Behind the camera. Tracie continues to develop feature films and major motion productions. Tracie Collins is proving her ability to be a multi-faceted mogul and a household name, one dream at a time.


Tracie is happily married to her wife of 3 years and is the mother of 3 beautiful children. She is proud to reside in and be apart of  Oakland, California where we are rich in diversity, social movements, culture, music & arts.
